In Florida, scattering cremated remains at sea is legal under the regulations of the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
Federal rules require cremated remains to be scattered at least three nautical miles from shore. The EPA also requires that a burial-at-sea notification be submitted within 30 days after the ceremony.
